Seagda Coyle, LMFT Bio:

Seagda is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with experience working with families, couples, and individuals dealing with a wide range of challenges. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from SUNY Purchase, Seagda went on to Iona University to receive his Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. He has extensive experience working with adolescents and young adults dealing with Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Depression as well as with couples and families facing challenging interpersonal difficulties ranging from difficulties adjusting to life changes, infidelity, and problematic relationships.

Seagda takes an empathetic approach to working with each client, trying to understand not just the challenges the client faces, but who the person is as an individual. While Seagda typically works from the perspectives of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy, he is aware that each person is unique and tries to adapt his sessions and interventions to match that individual. He looks to foster a sense of self-compassion and self-efficacy that will help his clients connect with and engage with their world in new ways. A firm believer that everyone has the capability to make changes in their lives, Seagda strives to empower his clients to make sense of their lived experiences and take on the challenges that life throws at them.

Seagda’s approach is rooted in collaboration between therapist and client, where conversation, emotional attunement, and understanding are paramount. It is his hope to create new ways of relating to emotions and experiences through therapeutic sessions. Through learning to manage and improve our relationship with ourselves, and others in our lives, we allow ourselves to feel something different.
